In Zacatecas, a north-central state in the heart of Mexico, lies a small town named Jerez.
The words of revolutionary poets hitch on the same breeze as music from the bands playing for local crowds at sundown in the Portal de las Palomas. Here, people gather at a number of traditional bars and restaurants, talking and laughing after a long day’s work. Kids play around the nearby Plaza Tacuba, the town square. The smell of seasoned meat and vegetables, much of which is grown in the area, blankets the humble city center.
That’s just a taste of Jerez. If you’d like more, come on in—there’s always enough to go around.

We had just moved to Chicago, and decided to settle in Palos Heights. After owning restaurants back home, we decided to open one here. And we did!
Our journey to palos heights
2020
We opened in February of 2020. As you can imagine, things went well, for about a month. And then, for two years, we were fighting to stay open. We managed to survive because of the strength of the Palos Heights community, and the love they shared with us over the years.
Jerez today
2024
Strong, rooted in family and tradition, and continuing to bring the taste of our hometown to all those who come through our doors. We’re happy and proud to be here, and we plan to be, for many, many years to come.

Our values
Culture
We want to share a piece of our home, with you.
Much like the United States, Mexico boasts a lot of proud states that have their own histories, distinct people, and styles of food. If we can share even just a bit of that with you, we will.
Real Food
Authentic food and drinks made from the heart.
We're not an assembly line fast food restaurant, and we're not just serving up stuff that was frozen a couple hours ago. This is real food, from a real kitchen, made ready to order, all of it for you.
Family
We like to keep things small, local, and close to home.
Without family, we all have nothing. These bonds are what keep us all together, and they are strengthened every time we decide to sit down and share in each other's company. At Jerez, that's exactly what we do.
Tradition
Our food has a long history and heritage, and we honor it.
It's always good to try something new, but without a solid foundation, you have nothing to build on. We treasure the history of our culture and of our food, and you can taste it in every dish we make.

Alcoholic Beverages here
Stop in on a hot summer's day for a cold margarita, or take a break from the cold and warm up with some spiked horchata.
We don't want our restaurant to be just another Mexican restaurant in Palos Heights, for the same reason your Mom didn't want her kitchen just be another place you got food.
She wanted it to be a home. Somewhere people could come together, sit down, share a good meal, and make some memories in the process.
That's something we aspire to create, every day. So, come on in and join us--there's always another seat at a Jerez table.
